Located in Mission, BC, Hearts on Noses Sanctuary (HONs) is a sanctuary providing a home to over 45 pigs, including potbellied pigs and full size pigs who were destined to become food.
The sanctuary is a place where these animals have found refuge from the harsh world that sees them as little more than pieces of property. Unlike so many others, they will receive love and care for the rest of their lives. At Hearts on Noses, all animals are equal and deserving of love and respect.
Portia and Pete are the newest additions. We could not say no to them as it was an emergency; they were about to be shipped off any day and no one else could help. Portia is 8 years old and Pete is 1 year old. They are both very overweight. We had to spend $650 to get Pete neutered.
We did not have any vacant houses set up so had to divide other pigs' space to make room for them and quickly built a small outside area for them to stretch their legs until we get the funds necessary to build their own spaces.
