Cami Grace hasn't added a story.
My name is Cami Grace, I'm 26 years told and I'm a huge dog lover. I have two furry-four-legged kiddos; Duke, German Shepherd (8 yrs) and Bo, Mastiff (5 yrs).
I adopted Bo, 113lb, 5 year old mastiff, from a co-worker and dear friend of mine, Mark Aichele. I took Bo in for his annual check-up at the vet and found out that he ruptured both of his cruciate ligaments in his back knees. The vet explained to me that you could compare this injury to an ACL tear in a human. We did some xrays to see what kind of damage we were looking at. The vet showed me what a good knee is supposed to look like, what a bad knee is supposed to look like, and then he showed me what Bo's knees looked like. There was so much arthritis build-up that it looked like they had been torn for quite a while. Bo is such a happy, sweet, joyful and goofy dog. I want to be able to give him the life he deserves.
Mark brought home Bo when he was only a few weeks old and they became best friends very quickly. Mark was one of the most inspiring people I've ever had the pleasure of calling my friend and co-worker. He took me under his wing when I first started with our company, Apollo Mechanical. He taught me a lot about life and work. When I found out that Mark had leukemia, I was devistated. Mark passed after a hard fight and extremely courageous battle this past September 2016.
When I heard that Bo needed a home, I didn't even hesitate. Bo just lost his daddy and best friend and I couldn't let him go to a shelter. I knew that Mark would want him to go to a good home, so there was no doubt in my mind about bringing him home and making him a part of my little family.
He stuck by Mark's side through the pain in his knees while Mark was sick. I believe he's part of the reason Mark kept fighting as long as he did. I want Bo to have the same fighting chance, but I need help.
The vet gave me a quote to have both of Bo's knees replaced. It's going to cost about $5,500. By doing this surgery and after the 5 month recovery time, this will bring Bo back to 94% healthy, which is the best chance he has. He deserves to have a happy, pain-free life. Every penny will be going towards the surgery, recovery and any medications he needs. If we surpas s our goal of $5,500, the leftover proceeds will be donated to both Be the Match and the Oregon Humane Society in Mark Aichele’s name. I don't ask for help often, but I can't do this on my own. Please help get this adorable boy some new knees.
