Help Us Quadruple Auchón: Build a Paradise for Our Rescues 🐾
Welcome to the next chapter of our campaign! If you have ever visited Hektor, you know that the spirit of our community is built on creativity, connection, and giving our beloved rescue animals the best home possible.
Last spring, we were able to secure the land thanks to your incredible support, now we have signed the paperwork. We are ready to develop the plot to make it a home for our - and more - rescues.
Before our majorero donkey Silvestre, our rescue sheep Stella, Loki and Malala, our pigs Tempeh and Tofu, and all our feathered friends (Blossom, Olga, Paloma, Penny, Gemma, Felipe, Isidro and Isa) can safely move in, we need to build the vital infrastructure. This expansion requires 102 meters of fencing, mobile shelters, a water connection, and a bridge across the barranco so the animals have the vast, secure space they need to truly heal and thrive.
We cannot do this alone. We are continuing to fund this dream through a unique blend of art and activism. As our campaign enters its open-ended second phase to build this infrastructure step-by-step, we still need your help to turn this empty land into a true animal paradise.
Meet the Animals Who Need This Space
Every animal at Hektor has a story, and this land is for them.
- Silvestre: Our Majorero donkey and "mental caretaker" who lived for five years on a 20m2 patch in complete solitude before finding us.
- Tempeh & Tofu: Tempeh was sent to a rescue as a female pig and is forever our little kid, while Tofu (a Canarian pig) came as a spare to keep Tempeh company and is now the one in charge.
- Stella, Malala & Loki: Stella, a nervous but funny Pelibüey sheep taken from a mistreated farm, and Loki and Malala, our gentle giant Canarian sheep who needs more space to roam.
- The Feathered Crew: From our royal turkeys (peacocks) Isidr, and Isabella, to Gemma the goose who loves cuddles, to Felipe the Muscovy duck who doesn't like the sun too much.
- Frits: Given up as a difficult dog, he is an absolute cuddle monster and the true guardian of the premises.
- Carmen, Namas & Rofe and all of the neighborhood cats who roam our land (and eat with us)
And The Newcomers...
But there is more. We will also welcome the sheep Pepito, Billy and Silo and a gang of feathered friends (approximately 7 flying newcomers).
This expansion will give all of them the vast, safe space they need to truly heal and thrive.
The Financial Goal
To make this expansion happen, we are raising funds in two crucial phases, as we have completed the first phase, we capable of purchasing the land.
We now need to build shelters, fencing, water supply, a bridge and storage.
To make this infrastructure happen, we have to raise another €4,900
If we hit this goal, we can immediately make the land a home. This funds 150 meters of fencing, new mobile shelters, a water connection, and a bridge to cross the barranco, to make the land extra accessible for our heroes.
Phase A: Securing the Borders (€2,300) Before anyone can move in, the land must be safe. This phase covers the absolute necessity of fencing. It funds 142 meters of fencing for the expansive new field, including a division in the middle.
Phase B: Essential Infrastructure (€1,300) This phase unlocks the land's usability for the animals. Much needed shade and a bridge for Silvestre to cross the barranco.
Phase C: Food infrastructure and water (€1,300) It funds a crucial water connection to keep the animals hydrated and food storage and feeders for the animals.
Funding Through Art & Activism
We cannot do this alone, so we have partnered with our incredible network of Artists-in-Residence (AIRs) and local collaborators to offer exclusive rewards for your support. By backing this campaign, you aren't just buying land—you are collecting unique art and experiences.
