Cherry (AKA Chernobyl, Charles, or more formally; King Charles) was rescued in December 2021 as a tiny kitten who loved nothing more than sitting on people's shoulders as they walked around the house. Though nowadays she pretends not to care, she has a sweet side, and you can often find her snuggling up against her person, my close friend Des. Des is her entire world, but financial and medical troubles have led to me making this campaign for them both. 

Cherry was diagnosed with stomatitis, a painful condition that causes gum inflammation and mouth pain. In her case, it is likely caused by her immune system reacting abnormally to the bacteria on her teeth.

Her stomatitis was being managed temporarily with steroids to reduce the swelling and pain, but the only long-term solution for cats with stomatitis is typically a full mouth extraction. This is the kindest treatment option, and cats that receive this treatment can live full and enriched lives (and most importantly, have no more pain while eating). The clinic Des has found offers low-cost options, but the quote is around $1,700k including pre-surgery bloodwork. She is fully prepared to take out a loan to cover this important procedure, but any bit to help put toward the surgery and reduce the loan costs helps. 

Currently, Cherry struggles to eat even soft foods due to pain and has dropped in weight, developing an aversion to food thinking anything she eats will lead to more pain. With your help, we can make sure Cherry lives a full, happy & healthy life alongside her person Des and her sister Cricket.
