Dear friends,
I've come to share a piece of my story with you all. My name is Suzy, and on 10/04/24, someone rescued me from the basement where I lived isolated for over a year.
When I was found, I was lying on the floor, my bones protruding due to the hunger I endured. I felt a lot of pain in the tip of my ear because they had been mutilated. Despite feeling very afraid and losing hope, I held on to life with the little energy I had...
This was a photo of me when I was found by my mommy:

When my mom saw the state I was in, tears filled her eyes, and she desperately took me to the vet on the same day. They said I was in a critical state of anemia. I'm not sure exactly what that means, but it seems it was caused by the malnutrition and neglect I suffered during the time I was abandoned in the basement. I had a very nice vet; he pricked me with a needle, which hurt a little, but then he gave me medicines to make me feel better and told my mom that I needed intensive care along with vitamins and supplements.
The past few days have been quite difficult; I've been making several visits to the vet and taking various medications. The worst part is that they don't taste very good! But my mom always gives me a cookie after I take them...
Lately, I've been eating, sleeping, and playing a lot with the bones and hugs I receive. But my mom thought it was time for me to receive care from a dog trainer specialized in anxiety and aggression because she didn't like how I've been treating other people and my older sister, Willow.
From what I've gathered, they plan on a rehabilitation of up to 1 year so that I can feel 100% secure around other people and animals. My mom was happy to hear this news, but then she cried a bit because the rehabilitation along with the medications is very expensive. I heard the dog trainer say that he would start with an intensive 3-day training for 8 hours a day and that all the medications plus the rehabilitation would cost $2500. I know my mom is doing everything in her power to ensure I have a full recovery and can have a long and happy life, but the costs of the medications plus the long-term training have significantly changed her life and her family's life (I'm only 2 years old and have many more to live), and I'm not sure if her postgraduate work generates much money. And my mom's savings ran out last month because a family member underwent emergency procedures and asked for help. I'm glad they're okay now.
Even so, my mom hasn't given up on me. She prays every day for me to be okay and to have a peaceful and very long life ahead. I am extremely grateful to her because I don't know if I would be here now if it weren't for her help and the help of the veterinarians. I will be eternally grateful for her love...
Friends, can you help me rebuild my new life? I can't wait to run through the green fields, smelling everything I'm curious about, and be able to have a normal life again.
You can have a special part in this journey and be part of the group of people who will be immortalized in my heart for giving me the chance to live the life I deserve. I don't understand much about money, but I know that if everyone reading this gave just $3, the fundraising would be done within an hour. That's right, the price of a cup of coffee is all I need. So, I leave you with a reflection.
What's worth more, a cup of coffee or the life and freedom of a dog?
Now you might be wondering, where will all this money go?
All the money will be used to pay all expenses during this one-year period (medications and rehabilitation training + possible additional expenses). If during this period the goal is exceeded, every dollar will be sent to The Pet Fund, an organization dedicated to funding veterinary care for those who cannot afford it.
So, friends, I leave the decision to help me with you...
Love, Suzy
