Recently, our family welcomed three adorable kittens into our home—Eclipse, Grande, and Mellow.
🐾 Eclipse (pictured on the left): A striking all-black domestic shorthair, who just recently trusted us enough to take treats from our hands.
🐾 Grande (pictured in the center): A playful brown tabby domestic longhair who loves to be cuddled and is always the first to greet us.
🐾 Mellow (pictured on the right): A sweet brown tabby domestic shorthair, still shy but growing braver each day.
Rescued from the streets by a local shelter, these 4 month old siblings are slowly adjusting to indoor life. When we first brought them home, we placed them together in an enclosure in one of the bedrooms so they would be in a quiet and calm environment but never alone. At first, they were scared, shy and often huddled together to comfort themselves (as you can see in the main photo). Now, they roam freely within the room, no longer hiding when we enter to feed, play, or just spend time with them. However, only Grande allows us to pick him up and has just recently begun to explore the entire house. The other two remain in one room and are not yet comfortable being held. Just in the last few days, Eclipse, began taking treats from our hands. Mellow gets close and doesn't hide but isn't quite ready to be handled yet. He's the most skittish of them all.
Despite their progress, Eclipse and Mellow are facing serious health challenges that require immediate attention.
Eclipse’s Health Challenges
Without any prior signs of illness, Eclipse began having
seizures. Our veterinarian discovered he’s anemic and has prescribed
oral antibiotics, but further testing is critical to determine the
cause of his seizures and create an effective treatment plan.
Eclipse needs:
Antibiotics & follow-up bloodwork
PCR test to identify
potential infections
FIP test to rule out this life-threatening
viral disease.
Mellow’s Health Challenges
Mellow is battling an eye infection caused by the feline herpes
virus (FHV-1). He needs antiviral medication applied three times
daily, but as a feral kitten, we aren't yet able to handle him. All of
our attempts to medicate him have been unsuccessful. He immediately
lashes out, then runs off and hides. It's very stressful and traumatic
for him. With your help, we plan to hire a trained professional to
administer his medication until he trusts us enough to do it
ourselves. Without treatment, Mellow’s infection could lead to
blindness or even the loss of his eye. The person administering his
medication will also give Eclipse his oral medication, as Eclipse
cannot be handled yet either.
Grande, thankfully, isn't currently experiencing any health issues. He's just being included in the photos because he's part of the family!
Why We Need Your Help
In just three weeks, we’ve already spent over $2,000 on care for
the kittens, and we’re anticipating another $3,252 in expenses this
month for:
1. Daily professional care for Mellow’s eye treatment and Eclipse's
oral medication for his anemia ($75/day for a home visit 3 times a day
for both cats for 30 days of care).
2. Eclipse’s diagnostic tests
and follow-up veterinary visits for both kittens.
3. Medications
and supplements to support both kittens’ recovery.
How You Can Help
Donate: No amount is too small and all contributions
are appreciated. Every dollar will go toward the medical care and
treatment of our two kittens. Also, any contributions that exceed the
requested amount will be donated to our local animal shelter.
Share: Regardless of whether you are able to donate or not, please spread the word by sharing our campaign on social media or with friends and family.
Follow: We intend to keep you informed on the progress of the kittens, so please check back often for updates. We will post treatment information, photos and videos regularly.
These kittens have quickly become part of our family, and we are heartbroken that we cannot provide them with the care they need without assistance. However, we are determined to do whatever it takes to give them the care they deserve, and your support—no matter the size—will help us make that possible.
As a gesture of appreciation, my son, who is an artist, has created printable and digital artwork of the kittens, which you will receive with your donation.
We truly appreciate you helping us with our kittens and for being part of their journey toward a healthy and thriving future. Your kindness will always be remembered.
