Denver loves with his whole being. He does not hold back. He does not hesitate. His joy is simple and pure, and his favorite way to share it is with kisses, as many as you will allow. To know Denver is to feel wanted, seen, and deeply loved.
Denver is incredibly food motivated and eager for treats. We believe this may come from a time in his life when food was uncertain, which makes every meal now feel especially meaningful to him. Because of this, he is eager to learn, quick to trust, and very responsive to gentle guidance. He is a dog who wants to do right and wants to belong.
Denver would do best as an only dog, or possibly with another very social, well trained dog who respects boundaries. What matters most for Denver is consistency, reassurance, and a calm place where he can feel safe and secure.
Denver is heartworm positive, a diagnosis that can feel overwhelming. Heartworm disease is spread by mosquitoes and can cause serious damage to the heart and lungs if left untreated. The hopeful truth is that heartworm disease is treatable, and dogs who receive proper care often go on to live long, happy lives. Treatment requires time, close medical monitoring, and strict rest, especially in the early stages.
The next 30 days will be the most critical as Denver begins this journey. After we guide him through the most challenging part of his treatment and ensure he is stable and healing, Denver will be available for adoption. Our goal is not only to treat his disease, but to give him the chance at the loving home he deserves.
