Hi, guys! My old man dog is in crisis and needs help! Niko is old and he has started getting cysts in the last couple of years. They haven't been too disruptive, but we've kept an eye on them. A couple of weeks ago, what I thought was a hot spot had turned into an open wound on this back hip. I took him to the vet and they felt like he had another cyst, but this one burst and was infected. They left the hole open for the infection to drain and put him on antibiotics and pain control. Over that first weekend, he wouldn't leave it alone and it got exponentially worse. I called the vet the following week, sent pictures, and was told to put him in a cone and keep giving him the antibiotics.

By last weekend, we were almost out of antibiotics, but the wound on Niko's leg is still large, angry, and deep into the tissue. The vet now feels that this is a tumor, not a cyst, and their suggestion is surgical removal of the mass as soon as possible.

After living with my mom for the last couple of years, I just finally got us a new place. I moved in this passed Sunday. Because of this, my savings account is nearly empty. I have no idea how I'll be able to pay for Niko's surgery. So, at the suggestion of some of the people in my life, I am starting this fundraiser.
