We are Precious Rabbits Rescue and Sancturary Society. We take in all kinds of rabbit with many different health or behavioral issues and try to rehome them. Sometime we have a rabbit that comes to us, that has very special costly medical bills and constant supportive care, we keep them as a sancturary rabbit.
Cuddles is a 6 year old Holland Lop that came to us when he was 5 years old. At first we just thought he was stinky because he was left in his own feces and urine. After a closer inspection we noticed he was terribly matted and that his skin was very tender. We shaved him to get rid of the mats and cleaned him up, and put him on antibiotics and pain medication. He showed positive signs of getting better. Then his eye began to bother him and bulge, so we took him back to the vet. She sent us to a dental specialist. It turned out that Cuddles was suffering from several loose and rotting teeth. He also had an abcess that was pushing on his eye causing the bulge. The vet removed the teeth and sent us on to give support of care. We ended up going back when he ended up with another large abcess on his cheek. He was in so much pain and just so said. The vet found another tooth that needed to be removed and opened up the abcess and cleaned it out. He was then placed on more doses of pencillin. It took 3 months to clear up the abcess. Cuddles went back and had a check up to see how he was doing. He had the last tooth on his right side removed.
He has made great progress through his journey and is a very loving boy. He loves to give kisses to anyone who gives him head pets. He will continue to live as a sanctuary bunny because he needs to have weekly penicillin shots, and check ups every 4-6 months. Everytime the vet looks in his mouth it is a minium of $300.00, and goes up if he needs any teeth removed, or spurrs removed.
Cuddles deserves to have a pain free life with his bun wife.His favorite pass time is soaking up the sun in the summer or when he can find a sun beam. He is a champion to all of us and we all love him dearly. So we ask for your help.
