Hello, my name is Alyvia. My cat Ethel, who turns 5 in April, became sick suddenly over the weekend and had to be rushed to the hospital. She is currently fighting so hard to stay alive. Her liver and kidneys were in bad shape when she went in on Monday, February 27th. Today, February 28th, her kidney and liver are in better shape, but she has fluid in her lungs. The doctors are trying to treat the fluid in her lungs so that we can take our baby home. She now has to spend another night at the hospital to see if the fluid in her lungs will go down. We are hoping for the best—that we can take her home tomorrow, but we may also be faced with the heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep. We are struggling with hospital costs, as I am a full-time student and my family can only offer so much support. If things take a turn for the worst, we will also be faced with the costs of putting her to sleep. 

Ethel is my best friend and is loved so dearly by her litter sister Mildred, my family, and our friends. My grandparents and I raised her and her siblings from birth after her mother passed. I have been with her her entire life and I cannot imagine her not being a part of mine. She is incredibly sweet and cuddly and brings happiness to everyone she meets. We are now left to anxiously wait to see if we can take her home or at least give her a peaceful way to go to rest if she does not improve by morning.
