My name is Elisavet Pessexidou and I have been a rescuer all my life. The area I live in is in the northwest part of Greece, mountainous and undeveloped. People's attitude towards animals varies from indifference, at best, to pure meanness, at worst. Although there is an improvement these past few years, the result is that I am never out of rescue work. There are many, many dogs hit by cars and left to die, slowly and painfully, on the asphalt. There are many, many dogs ill and scared away from the villages, dying of hunger. There are many, many puppies less than 2 months old, abandoned in the fields, on the mountains, thrown in the rivers and the lakes, to perish without anyone knowing. Maybe stupid of me but I can't turn the other way when I see a suffering animal. I take them to the vet and they get the medical treatment they deserve as living creatures of God, be it surgery or medicines or just food and vitamins. I take them to pensions till they recover and can survive by themselves again or find adopters if they can't. I raise the puppies till they come of age to be adopted or let them into the streets again. As I am a lone rescuer I don't get any help from the state or the municipality. I have a huge debt to the vet and I struggle every day to get some euros for their food and the pensions. I have run out of options and strength. I can't fight alone any more. It's difficult by itself having to deal with all this pain, day in- day out. Not having the means to do it is unbearable. I PLEAD FOR YOUR HELP. EVERY PENNY IS VALUABLE. THE DONATION ADDRESS IS FOR THE VET. ALL DONATIONS GO STRAIGHT TO HIM FOR THE ANIMALS' VETERINARY CARE.
