Update: Bella has been invited to my oldest brothers vet a couple hours south of us. We will get a second opinion from him on on her condition. If he feels the surgery may have a positive outcome then we will have it done around 4:30 PM today. Please keep us in your thoughts and continue to share her story if you can. My name is Megan and my Great Dane Bella swallowed a swiffer duster refill last Thursday. She’s been known to swallow things she shouldn’t and as an adult has been successful at passing them.. this time not so much. She began vomiting Sunday morning the 17th and has been doing so intermittently ever since. The vet said there may be a blockage but only on one X-ray did they see a shadow. We picked her up the next afternoon. They recommended more xrays and blood work which would have added an additional $519 to the $820 we were billed for already.. we can’t afford that right now. We elected to bring her home and keep an eye on her with the anti nausea meds and water here and there.
We didn’t get much sleep that night. She was restless and up and down and vomiting..
The vet is calling in the morning to see how she’s doing. If she’s still been vomiting they want her back in for the xrays. If the results are inconclusive again they want to do an exploratory surgery and are estimating upwards of $4000. That’s why I’ve set the goal at that amount. Anything helps!
Theres a chance I can get her back in to a vet that’s seen her in Madison, WI who would charge much less.. in the even that donations raised go over what her vet bills are I would be either donating the excess to a pet/s in need or giving it back to the donor.
