Living in a leaking; barely habitable (and cold!) camper has been a
labor of love often suffered silently while the people volunteering at
HighRock Wolfdogs fight to give their wolf and other canine residents
the best life possible. A plan was hatched to build a tiny house/cabin
on site that would allow the human residents a more safe, comfortable
environment. But the struggle didn’t stop when construction on the
tiny home did. The universe had to throw another curveball. A bad bout
of harsh winter rain struck when promised help pulled out, leaving
them literally holding the buckets to catch the rain pouring into the
on-site camper. To make matters worse, the tiny homes roof was opened
so it could be moved in two sections onto sanctuary grounds. Now they
need help covering the roof and fixing the damage to the tiny home
while trying to make livable temporary repairs to the camper until the
ground dries enough to try moving the structure on-site once
again.
HighRock Wolfdogs is a nonprofit organization dedicated
to providing the time, love and support necessary to care for their
wolfdogs and animals. They do so without the many comforts most of us
take for granted and they face these difficulties silently, never
asking for anything. I have watched their Facebook and long admired
what they do but being hundreds of miles away, often feel helpless
when they do face such challenges. But this time, not only I, but so
many others, can help show their support for these amazing people and
their incredible animals by chipping in a few dollars to help them to
have a safe, comfortable place to live, sleep and grow.
