Jenny was found curled up in the corner of a rotting shed. She was weak, barely able to lift her head, her body trembling from exhaustion and hunger. Her ribs were pressing through her skin, but the most heartbreaking sight was the massive tumor weighing down her abdomen. It was swollen, tight, and stretching her skin to its limit, making every step painful. She had been living like this for who knows how long, too weak to search for food, too exhausted to move.
After rushing her to be examined, it was evaluated that the tumor is aggressive and dangerously large, likely growing for months or even years. It is pressing on her internal organs, making it harder for her to eat, move, and even breathe properly. Despite her suffering, the good news is that it is operable, but this needs to be done fast. The tumor must be removed surgically, followed by a biopsy to determine if further treatment is needed. Delaying this surgery is not an option. If left untreated, the tumor will rupture, causing internal bleeding and an agonizing death.
Right now, she is stable but fragile. She is receiving IV fluids, pain management, and antibiotics to prevent infection. She is eating small meals, but the tumor is making digestion difficult. She still struggles to stand for long periods.
The surgery was quoted at $2500 for now. This will cover pre-surgery bloodwork and protocol, the procedure it self, post-operative care, medications and monitoring and biopsy to determine the next steps.
