As you know Pompano opted out of the TNR program for broward, hopefully that will change in the future, until that day comes we are faced with a massive overpopulation of cats. It keeps me so busy that I had a hard time finding the time to create this campaign!
Many wonderful people commented on my recent post regarding the cats i feed offering to help trap and try to get the numbers under control! I don't have a big network of rescuers, trappers or vets in South florida so it's hard for me to get the word out but thankfully a lot of people shared my post and called whomever they know to ask for help. Karen Levine reached out to a newer mobile vet on the block, Dr. Hefter from Premium Vet Care in Plantation. He is more then willing to help take on this task! Also Liz Cordero contacted PPC, located in Pompano (formerly Stray Aid), and she too is on board! Also Liz will be doing what she is AMAZING at: Trapping!! So thank you ladies for helping to get this going and organized!
Saturday April 21st is going to be the first day of the trap, snip and flip lol if you're able to help trap please let myself or Liz know, i think we discussed an early, early morning session. There is no less then 100 cats within this plaza, some of which Liz already TNR'd a couple years ago but more were dumped there and wandered there and now there are just sooo many.
Liz brought up that she know of other areas close by that also need to be TNR'd, not just pompano but deerfield as well so once we are done here we will be lean, mean trapping machines all over the place!
Monies raised will go to PPC for they do not accept vouchers just yet and its $25 per cat. Hefter does take vouchers but is located in Plantation unless we can work something out to help cover the expenses for him to travel to us. If there are funds left over after the massive TNR in pompano then that money will go towards the other cats that we will be trapping in the surrounding areas!
