I find myself typing those words often these days, more often than I woujd like...
Denali was roaming the streets of Harrisburg in October when a good Samaritan saw him & couldn't drive past, leaving him to continue fending for himself... he was skinny and had a terrible skin issue going on...
She contacted us and we couldn't say no... we met her at the ER in Harrisburg and took him into the rescue, having him seen right away...
Denali was on medications and shampoos as we worked to get his skin issues under control when it was discovered that he was having some incontinence issues and upon a thorough exam, our vet found his prostate enlarged & firm... this began a whirlwind for Denali...
He was neutered immediately, hoping this would shrink the prostate but to no avail... and then he was unable to urinate on his own at all after a short while longer...
After almost a week back & forth between our vet & the local ER, he was admitted to the ER at The Life Center in Leesburg, VA to be seen by the Internal Medicine department... he has now been there for 13 days... he is still unable to urinate on his own... an aspirate and a biopsy were done on his prostate and we were, luckily, able to rule out cancer... but now he has run out of options with the staff at Leesburg so this evening, I am transferring him from The Life Center to Friendship Animal Hospital in Washington, DC where he will be under the care of their Urology team...
Denali has been seeing the best in our area but whatever is going on with him is beyond their scope of expertise & experience so he is going to see the next step up in professionals for his issues.
Denali's bills, at this time, have exceeded $13,000 & we have no idea what his stay at Friendship will bring. Please share this Fundrazr, give if/what you can & send your love, prayers & positive thoughts to our boy... he has been through so very much in such a short time after having no one to care about him and truly deserves a chance at the happy life he has never known.
