Bandit's K9Care Inc. hasn't added a story.
Einstein is a handsome Pembroke Welsh Corgi living with his owner in
Arkansas. They have been together since Einstein was a puppy and have
had many adventures together. In fact over the years they have visited
49 of the 50 US states! Einstein has also inspired Nolan, who does
wood working, to create Corgi planter boxes (you can learn more about
those at https://www.corgiadventurer.com).
Yesterday Nolan noticed that Einstein was not his normal
energetic self, and in fact did not seem to want to walk. After
checking his legs Nolan noticed swelling on one side of his rump so he
took Einstein to the vet. After doing blood work, x-rays and a quick
ultrasound, it was confirmed that Einstein was suffering from a
perineal hernia.
A perineal hernia occurs when there is a weakening or traumatic
tear in the muscles of the parineum, resulting in the bladder,
intestines, or fat pushing through the muscle to an abnormal position
just under the skin. It can cause problems going potty, and can cause
the dog to become lethargic and lose their appetite, and in some cases
can eventually become life threatening.
Surgery is the way to correct the herniation, and thanks to a
cancellation Einstein has been scheduled for surgery on Tuesday
morning right after the holiday weekend. The surgeon will not know the
exact cost of surgery until he sees Einstein next week, but the
estimate for this type of surgery is between $3,500 and $4,500.
Although his owner is working as an automotive technician, the
income just covers his basic living expenses, and he used what funds
he earned from his wood working for the diagnostic testing at his
primary vet. Given the urgency of Einstein's condition, and upon the
urging of some Corgi Nation friends, Nolan reached out to Bandit’s
K9Care. We agreed to help by putting up a fundraiser (since all of our
current funds are already earmarked for another urgent surgery). Nolan
loves his boy so much. He would greatly appreciate any support he can receive.
