Taking care of strays and rescues since 1998, Luzviminda Anne Santos Morales and her husband are advocates for pet adoption and responsible pet ownership. " Do not breed or buy while homeless and shelter pets die!" is a line which you can see in their posts from time to time.

In spite of the big size of her "rescue family" of Puspins and Aspins (Pinoy or Filipino cats and dogs), Luz doesn't turn away from helping those in need, including people on the streets. One of the recipients of Luz's efforts and call to action is an elderly woman named Aling Nida. In spite of her poverty, Aling Nida feeds several stray cats along the streets of Tondo, Manila. Luz asked for donations for Aling Nida and they were able to provide an amount to help Aling Nida start her retail candy store. Another person responded and rescued Aling Nida's strays and took them for fostering.

Another story of triumph was that of stray Mama Dog Stephanie and her two newborn puppies. Luz took a picture of Stephanie, posted it on Facebook and asked for kind hearts who would take Stephanie into a loving home. Luz's hard work and diligence bore fruit as the mama dog and her 2 puppies were adopted soon after.

Last April 21, 2017, Luz spotted a tiny kitten which was hiding underneath a parked 16-wheeler truck. She didn't think twice and now the little one has become the 82nd member of her rescue family. 

At present, Luz has 3 active Facebook groups dedicated to raising awareness and taking action for the welfare of animals - Animal Rescue PH, Cats and Kittens Rescue PH (#SagipPusa) and Save Rescued Dogs Philippines (#SagipAso). In those pages, you will see heartwarming, inspiring and sometimes heartbreaking stories of strays and rescued animals in the Philippines. She regularly posts updates.

Luz and her husband, meanwhile, do not have their own kids. They provide for their own needs and their rescue family's daily needs by retailing cutesy cats and dogs merchandise through online and face-to-face transactions. Luz would often post her location so people nearby can come and buy fundraising items. She goes around the city and at times would even deliver the goods herself. A few months back, I purchased a cat shirt from their Facebook page "Cats and Dogs Merchandise PH" and I was happy with the hassle-free transaction, quick delivery and the quality of the cat shirt I received. Such earned my trust and since then I started following that page. It was through that transaction that I first came to know of Luz's advocacy and the depth of her passion for rescuing animals.

Recently, Luz posted a heartbreaking call for help with her personal concerns: she and her rescue family, most of them with her since 1998, are in danger of losing their rented home. They need to raise the amount of Php35,000 (roughly $800 US) the soonest possible time so they won't get evicted. Having limited resources myself, I Googled up about crowdfunding and thankfully discovered PetFundr!! I messaged them on Facebook and Darcy responded within a few minutes. Thank you, Darcy, for fueling hope!!
