Right now, I’m reaching out not just as a father, but as a man doing everything he can to hold it together for his son and his family—including our dog, Mariposa.

Mariposa isn’t just a pet—she’s part of our family. She’s been there through thick and thin, comforting my son, Javan, and bringing light into our hardest days. But now, she’s in pain. Something’s wrong, and it’s getting worse fast. We don’t have the funds on hand to get her the urgent care she needs—and watching her suffer while feeling powerless is tearing me up.

I’ve never been good at asking for help. I’ve always tried to figure it out on my own. But this time, I’m putting pride aside. I’m asking—if you’re able—to help us give Mariposa a fighting chance. Every dollar goes directly to her emergency care. Even just sharing this means the world.

Help Save Mariposa – A Loyal Dog, A Loving Boy, and a Father Out of Options

I wouldn’t be asking if I had any other choice.

I’m a father, a veteran, and a man who’s always pushed through. But right now, I’m standing in front of something I can’t fix alone. Our dog Mariposa—my son Javan’s best friend—is sick. She’s hurting. And I’ve run out of time, money, and options trying to save her.

Due to medical issues, I was placed on State Disability Insurance (SDI) while applying for SSDI (Social Security Disability). I’m also in the middle of being evaluated for veteran’s disability. My funds are extremely limited. I've stretched every dollar and favor I had. I got Mariposa to the vet. I got her the basic medicine—only because my mom, who couldn’t afford it either, helped cover it. That alone was hard to ask for.

Now they’ve ordered blood work to find out what’s really wrong. just that is 125 That might not sound like much—but to me, right now, it’s everything. And I just don’t have it. I’ve already called every clinic I could find, asked about payment plans, tried to use the insurance we had, and even posted on Facebook—but nothing’s worked. So here I am.

If you’ve ever loved a dog like family, you’ll understand. Mariposa has been a source of healing and peace for Javan and Myself, through some really hard times. She’s more than a pet—she’s a part of us. Watching her suffer, and watching my son look at me like I’m supposed to fix it, when I can’t… it’s breaking me.

I’m not asking for a handout. I’m asking for help. For Mariposa. For Javan. Anything helps. Even a share. Even a kind word. But if you’re in a position to donate, know it goes straight to giving her the chance she deserves.
