On Christmas Day, December 25th, 2025, what should have been a joyful holiday suddenly turned into one of the most frightening moments of our lives. Our beloved dog Bambi was taken to the veterinary hospital after we noticed something was wrong, and that day she was diagnosed with gastrointestinal lymphoma, an aggressive form of cancer in dogs.
Our veterinarian explained that this type of cancer often carries a very poor prognosis. Even with chemotherapy, many dogs sadly do not respond to treatment and pass away within a short period of time. Hearing those words felt like the world had stopped.
But I couldn’t give up on Bambi. If there was even the smallest chance for her to keep living — even just to reach her 6th birthday — I wanted to fight for that chance with everything I had.
We started chemotherapy treatment, hoping for the best while preparing for the worst. Miraculously, Bambi began to respond to treatment. Follow-up examinations showed that her tumor and enlarged lymph nodes had significantly decreased, and she slowly began to regain parts of her normal life.
However, the fight brought new challenges. During chemotherapy, Bambi developed immune-mediated thrombocytopenia (IMT), a serious condition that caused her platelet count to drop dangerously low to 8, putting her at risk of life-threatening bleeding. She required an emergency blood transfusion and intensive care to stabilize her condition.
Thankfully, after treatment, her platelet count recovered to 347, and she continues to respond to treatment. Bambi is still fighting, and she still has hope.
The biggest challenge we face now is the cost of continuing her treatment. Between chemotherapy sessions, regular blood tests, hospitalization, and the emergency transfusion, the medical expenses have grown far beyond what I can manage alone.
I have done everything I can to keep Bambi’s treatment going, but as the costs continue to rise, I am facing the heartbreaking possibility of not being able to continue her care on my own. It is devastating to think that a dog who is actually responding to treatment might lose her chance simply because of financial limitations.
