This is Winnie, my 2 year old rescue the cat distribution system sent me after I lost my 16 year tabby that looked just like her. Winnie is the sweetest, most grateful little girl but has recently diagnosed with megacolon after constant battles with severe constipation since she was born. She has been to the vet numerous times to be sedated and manually un-impacted (obstipation) and I have tried so many things that have failed to help her belly. I have spend thousands of dollars on special foods and surgeries but I’m not sure she will ever actually get “better”. She’s far younger than most cats with megacolon and the vets we’ve visited are stumped about her case. She NEEDS an urgent obstipation and I genuinely don’t have the money (nor credit) to afford it. I feel terrible I HAD to spend what money could have gone towards her surgery on car repairs but that is the only way I can get back and forth to work. She’s so uncomfortable, doesn’t want to eat, and she is at a point the impaction has to be manually removed. (I’ve included an xray to give an example of how bad she gets.) The surgery is normally about $1k due to having to have X-rays and sedation every time. I feel terrible watching her lay in pain, you can feel the hard lumps in her belly… she cries when she gets pet because she’s so uncomfortable. I’m uncomfortable asking for help, but I know she is more uncomfortable physically. Anything helps or even advice is so so appreciated 🩷
