I adopted my baby Ben 17 yrs ago. He has been my constant lap companion throughout good and bad times. He helped me through the sudden death of my husband. He would lay in bed with me, cuddle in my hair, and lay his paw on my cheek. As he has aged he hasn't been able to groom himself. I've brushed him and cleaned him but the matting has taken over. I found an urgent care that will examine him (mandatory) and sedate him gently to shave him. I can see how uncomfortable he is. His skin twitches and he can't get comfortable. I lost my rescue dog, Poppy 2 months ago and my rent doubled under new ownership. Ben and his brother eat better than I do. The cost will be anywhere from 200. Or a bit more. I typically have 20.00 left at the end of my SSI check. I can't let him suffer and he's healthy except for the matting. Please help me help him.
