Elisa Isis Allendes Paulsen hasn't added a story.

My name is Elisa and my baby boy Inti, a 4 year old ginger cat, is currently going through some health problems. We need your help to provide the veterinary care he needs, he needs your help. You can read his story here.

Inti was born in 2020. I was living in Concepción (Chile) and, one day in the middle of Covid, with some friends we heard kittys meaw from our apartment. We went looking for them and we found a little ginger kitty hiding in the garbage of a construction site. We took him in and I decided to adopt him. He was full of fleas, hungry and scared. Our path in life started in that moment and I knew that he found me and we were meant to be.

He's always been a healthy little cat, with a lot of energy and love to give. He's a sweet, loving and caring baby boy who loves to cuddle and demands a lot of attention and love from us humans. Have you seen the stereotypical videos of ginger cats on TikTok? Well, he is just as crazy and loving as those.

Last January he was diagnosed with feline chronic kidney disease in stage II and, a few weeks ago (early may), he started showing symptoms of some kind of discomfort, so we took him to a nefrourologist specialist who told us we had to be alert of symptoms like decay or difficulty urinating, among others. On the 30th of may (last week Thursday) he started to show these symptoms, so I took him and we rushed to the Veterinary Emergency, where he was diagnosed with urinary obstruction. He couldn't pee and there was blood in his urine, so he was admitted to the hospital and stayed there for three days. In those days, the vets put him a veterinary catheter and realized he had an inflamed bladder, they gave him treatment and took blood and urine samples that were sent to a veterinary laboratory. Eventually, on Sunday June 2th, he was discharged and we went home, where everything went smoothly until the early morning (around 3am) of Tuesday (June 4th), when he started showing symptoms again and had blood in his urine. Long story short, I spoke with the nefrourologist with whom I took him a few weeks ago and he told me that Inti needed hospitalization again, but this time in a vet clinic where he works so he could keep an aye on him. Yesterday (Thursday June 6th) we went to the vet under the instructions of his doctor and he was admitted, once again, to the hospital, where he is staying at least three days. He is currently with a food catheter and the doctors will take an ultrasound and XRay to check if he has kidney stones, plus they'll take blood and urine samples for exams (blood count, biochemical profile, electrolytes, urinalysis and urine culture). To this day (June 10th), Inti's medical situation is that he has an inflamed bladder, small bowel, large bowel (colon)and kidneys, which has caused an inflammation in his lymph nodes. He also has a complication in his respiratory system, this could be because of a pneumonia, pulmonary edema or a tumor (there's still labs and exams to do to determinate which one it is). Inti's doctors are convinced that he has a bacterial infection because his labs show an increase in his white blood cells levels, which is an indicator of infection. They've done an urinalysis and urine culture that hasn't showed anything for now, so probably the infection is in another part of his organism, which we have yet to discover by doing more ecos, XRays and labs.

In summary, Inti has complications in his urinary and digestive system and possibly in his respiratory system as well.

About treatment the vets haven't told us much, just that this is a complex case but, as for now, it should have treatment, but we have yet to discover what is causing this problems, so we can know what will the final diagnosis be. For now he's in treatment with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and pain killers and he seems to be responding.

As you may now, veterinary care isn't cheap but is needed to bring comfort and health to our loved pets. Up till now, we have paid more than 900.000 chilean peso ($USD 900) in veterinary care and we have a lot more to come, so we are in a complicated situation where we have to appeal people in the internet who loves pets as much as my family does to help us save Inti, our solcito. We don't have more money to spend in this, it's not that we don't want to it's that we don't have anymore, so we ask for help because all we want is to have Inti with us for a lot of time. We love him so deeply and we are terrified of this situation, but one thing we know for sure is that we will do everything in our power to save our baby boy.

Your help is much needed and will definitely be appreciated. From the bottom of our heart we thank you if you read up till here and thank you if you decide to support Inti's healing journey.

Inti will be deeply thankful for your help. We need you, is the only way we can keep our little sunshine shining.

I will post all the exams we’ve made him and the veterinary bills, where you’ll be able to see all the medical expenses we’ve paid so far and what is left to pay.

Thank you for reading and helping our little sunshine.
