From Murphee’s owner Josie: Murphee came to Colorado in March as a rehomed Corgi, as her previous owners could not handle her anymore. She was flown from PA by Pilots N Paws . Murphy was almost 10 years old and weighed 39 pounds. After a good diet, and playing and running around the backyard with the other Corgis in the household she is now a more slender 30 pounds!
I was told by her former owners that Murphee had become
aggressive with a grandkid, and that she was somewhat food aggressive
and did not like car rides. We learned that her food aggression was
actually major, and not something I would term somewhat. And she loves
car rides! We also found that touching her sides, belly or tail was an
issue. Sadly whatever happened in the previous home was clearly not
good. Her medical records showed that she was up to date with shots
but had received no other care. Grooming her is a big job but now,
after several months, I am able to do that just fine. She is now on
medications for her aggression, and they definitely help. She still
shows some aggression, but I hope that after her dental it will get
better as a cracked tooth must be painful.
The funds we are raising will be used for Murphee’s dental
surgery. A molar cracked and a piece broke off and needs to be
removed. There is a small growth in her mouth that also needs to be
removed before gets much bigger, but the vet doesn’t think it is
cancerous. There may be more issues but they will not be known until
they do dental x-rays on the day of surgery. While she is under
anesthesia the vet also wants to do a few x-rays of her shoulders and
hips given her age and former weight. Her surgery appointment is
scheduled for November 22, 2024.
Murphee has already undergone an amazing transformation in the 7
months that she has been with us. She deserves to live the rest of her
life without pain and with love and happiness. I am so grateful for
any help I can get to make this happen for our rescue girl who is
becoming sweeter and more loved every day.
