This fundraiser continues the story that started with Mamabear and her eight puppies.
Mamabear and her litter were brought into a shelter as strays and were scheduled for euthanasia within 24 hours due to overcrowding. We were contacted by a rescue asking for immediate help. Without much time to think, we stepped in and agreed to foster Mamabear and all eight of her puppies so they could have a chance at life.
Pebbles is one of those puppies.
From the beginning, our daughter Savannah connected with her. Pebbles became her puppy almost instantly — the one she watched over, named, and claimed as her own. We had every intention of adopting Pebbles once she was old enough. She wasn’t “just” a foster to us anymore. She was family.
A few days ago, Pebbles took a sudden and serious turn. She is now critically ill and requires a blood transfusion and transfer to another hospital for advanced, life-saving care. The estimate for this next phase of treatment is $5,000–$7,000, in addition to what has already been paid through the initial fundraiser. The rescue does not have the funds available, and our family cannot cover this on our own.
Being faced with the idea that care might stop because of money is devastating. Pebbles is still here. She’s still fighting. Walking away from her because of cost is not something we can accept.
This comes during an already overwhelming time for our family. While waiting and hoping for another missing family pet to come home, we’re now facing the possibility of telling our daughter that her puppy may not survive — not because help doesn’t exist, but because we can’t afford it.
All funds raised will go directly toward Pebbles’ emergency veterinary care, including the blood transfusion, hospitalization, and continued critical treatment. Any excess funds will be used to support the rescue and ongoing medical needs for Mamabear and her remaining puppies.
