On Monday morning, in Stonyford, CA, Jan 12,  2026, Hannah, a GSD dog that was adopted through our rescue , faced a terrifying ordeal when she was attacked by a pack of coyotes. She sustained serious bite wounds on her legs and a complete open fracture of her tail. Hannah was rushed to the emergency vet in Chico, CA twice and also received care from her regular veterinarian in Redding. Her recovery will be long and challenging, requiring multiple medications, including fentanyl, gabapentin, carprofen, and a prescription diet. She will need weekly visits for dressing changes and splinting of her tail for the next few months.

Hannah’s owner has always been dedicated to her wellbeing. She adopted her directly from SASA, a high kill shelter and cared for  her through previous health challenges like Masticatory Myositis and spondylosis. She loves this dog so much that she has already invested over $15,000 already. The recent emergency has resulted in significant veterinary bills, with a large amount already paid and more expenses expected for ongoing treatment, medications, travel, and wound care. The financial burden is overwhelming, and any support from the community will help ensure Hannah receives the care she needs to heal and thrive.
