What we do.
Georgia Heartland Humane Society is non-profit no kill animal rescue that strives to give animals the lives they deserve: a pain-free and peaceful existence filled with love and kindness. We rely solely on the generosity of our community, and we aim to maintain our strong fundraising efforts within the community and with local businesses. We do not operate a shelter and are run by volunteers and fosters who dedicate their time and continue to share their love for our animals and our mission. We hope to end the suffering of animals with our rescue, adopt, spay & neuter program.
How you can help us this Giving Tuesday.
This Giving Tuesday, Georgia Heartland Humane Society would appreciate your generosity and support in any way you seek necessary: monetary donations, pet item donations, fostering, volunteering, and/or sharing our campaign and message with others.
At GHHS, we rely solely on the generosity and support of our community. Our fundraising efforts help us continue to operate, and it funds our rescue, adopt, spay & neuter program. These funds go towards helping rescue abandoned, neglected, or abused animals and helping nurture them back to good health with lots of love. Additionally, these funds are used to spay or neuter and microchip our animals, in addition to funding any medical care they may need. Volunteers are crucial to the operation of our rescue and we are immensely grateful for them. Volunteers are able to help us in many different ways, from attending and helping out at adoption events, to fostering, to helping us out with any skill-related activities (graphic arts, photography, fundraising, communications, business, marketing, etc). We are always in need of volunteers and we would be so happy to welcome you to our GHHS family. Fosters are one of our biggest needs as we need amazing people to help us care for, socialize and love the animals we rescue. When you foster with GHHS, we provide any necessary medical care and medication, food, leash, collar, bed, litter, crate, and education on how to care for your foster animal; all you provide is a safe and nurturing environment for these animals while they experience socialization as they prepare for their forever homes. How contributions will be used for Giving Tuesday.
Contributions we receive will be used to fund our rescue, adopt, spay & neuter program as we continue to find loving homes for our rescues. Be sure to follow us on social media to keep up with how your contributions are being used for the better.
 | Our rescue, Cheeto, had a rough start in life. He was found in the engine of a car, covered in oil. He was thankfully brought to our rescue and nursed back to health with the help of his foster mom. Due to his unfortunate experience early in life, he is now considered special needs and continues to take special medications just for him. None of this would be possible without the help of our community and their overwhelming generosity and support. Today, Cheeto is doing better than ever and is a super friendly cuddle buddy that is great with other cats. He is an absolute sweetheart and would not be here today without support from our rescue and community.
