Happy Tails Srebrenica will be the only no-kill dog rescue and shelter in the region.
Our mission is to rescue and care for homeless, abandoned and neglected dogs in the Srebrenica municipality (eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina). Most are hungry, some are sick, and none of them had a home to call their own. Until now.
In an unprecedented collaboration involving the municipal authorities, the non-profit sector, the private sector and the international community, we are in the process of establishing the first no-kill dog shelter the region has ever seen. But we need your help.
We are currently caring for more than 50 dogs while we construct the shelter and facilities. It's a race against time to finish before the harsh winter snow and cold. Our goal is to provide not just shelter, but a home, to all homeless, unwanted, neglected and abused dogs in the municipality. We will love and care for them until we find forever homes for all of our wonderful dogs.
It's an ambitious and challenging undertaking. We aim to build the shelter and facilities and to keep it running in 2020. For this we want to raise $25.000. This money will be spend on the construction of the center (materials, workers and transport: $9.000) and one year of running the center (rent, staff, food, power, water, security, vet services, dog supplies, transportation: $16.000).
During 2020 we will develop the self-sustainability of Happy Tails Srebrenica. We hope to make this center a social project that can sustain itself through adoptions, trainings and tourism.
But first, we need to get the dogs off the streets, and provide them a safe and warm home.
