This fundraiser provides emergency boarding and feed support for rescue horses in Minnesota whose owners are facing sudden job loss. Many of these dedicated individuals have taken exceptional care of their horses for years. However, when unexpected income loss hits, they find themselves without a safety net. When reaching out to original rescue organizations for temporary help, the only option offered is to permanently surrender the horse.
The Human and Equine Toll
Forcing these owners to give up their animals inflicts profound emotional trauma. Many of these individuals are already dealing with life stressors, and their horses serve as vital emotional support and bonded companions.
When a rescue horse is surrendered, it enters a stressful cycle of
moving from rescue to rescue or owner to owner. In worst-case
scenarios, unpaid board bills force stable owners to sell the horses
at auction, placing these vulnerable animals at extreme risk of
entering the slaughter pipeline.
