We have an urgent situation that has developed in Brazil.

Our rescue friends have reached out to us regarding a wonderful lady, Donna Antonia, who has been helping the poor stray dogs in her area.

There are so many strays it is impossible to help them all.
These poor dogs live their entire lives on the dangerous streets of the poor areas in Brazil. They are despised by many, who think of them as vermin.

Donna Antonia has been helping five particular strays. Although she is very poor, she has been feeding them for years. She often goes without food herself, so these poor dogs can eat.

Our rescue friends help Donna Antonia when they can by giving her dog food.

Donna Antonia reached out to our friends when one of the strays, Maracana, became sick.

We intended to do a fundraiser for him but he sadly passed today. He had gone too long without vetting and his illness was more severe than she thought.

Of course she is heartbroken.

We want to help the remaining four Donna Antonia strays. We want to get them neutered and spayed and checked out to ensure that they are healthy.

They are surviving on the streets with Donna Antonia's help. But if they are sick we fear, that like poor Maracana, they will not survive.

We know you are all hoping we can find homes for these four. Our rescue friends have them on their radar to find homes, but as you can imagine, there are thousands of strays. There are not enough homes.

Donna Antonia's strays are luckier than most. They have food in their tummies and a person who gives them love, pets, and attention.

Our rescue friends are fighting for the politicians in Brazil to do something about these stray dogs, starting with spaying and neutering so they can stop them from coming. It is an uphill battle they are prepared to fight.
